Workshop Attended: Relationship Renovations 1
I recently had the privledge of attending a HPP Level 1 training course facilitated by Brian O’Reilly. I cannot say enough about the whole experience. The hosts ,Sandy and John, made me feel like family and the environment that we learned in was beautiful and comforting.
Regarding the training itself, what can I say… Brian has an amazing ability to cut through to the core of our issues and helps us look at our “stuff” in a safe and honest environment. It’s like he acts as a mirror and as long as we’re willing to look we will learn so much about ourselves and others.
This training changed the way I look at life. The weekend course helped my relationships with others but most of all myself. I have a new perspective and in my opinion it is much healthier. I would recommend this training for anyone who is interested in being happier and less burdened with life.

This was sent to me after a training. Thank you so much for letting me share this with readers
Hi Brian,
What I realized I kept coming back to from the weekend was the truth of when a person has a strong meaningful realationship there is no need to be neurotic, and the people seeking counselling have trouble with relationships or are without a meaningful one when they are seeking help.
This was not new , and I thought I understood how important realationships are, but it kept hitting me through the week how alive I feel, how life is worth living, and truely happy I am when I have someone in my life that I can share respect, trust, and fun with. And how desperately I want that, but block it out much of the time because I’m spending so much energy lately to manage daily life.
And the fact that I act out of my Power need when this Love and Belonging need isn’t being fully met.
Then I wondered if am I really happy when life is so busy and I’m dealing with stuff just to survive – kids, work, house…..
After last night I’m wondering what is fantasy. I know I create a lot, and deal with what comes up however I can to reduce stress, and not let anything be a big enough concern that it might crush me, and I figured that is to maintain some level of sanity that I want to present to the rest of the world. Maybe that’s insane.

I too received many insights during the HPP Level 1 course. I found that the discussions about needs, and each person’s Quality World, in particular, shook my world. Listening to others often brings up our own issues. This was the case when someone related their habit of trying to gain attention, through complaining and ranting, I realized that I also employ these same ineffective behaviours in an effort to meet my need for control. However rather than achieve this, I create distance between myself and others. The challenge is to find more constructive ways in which to meet my control needs.
In learning about the Quality World each person creates, some of the participants came to the conclusion that they were not present in their own Quality World. This was very revealing since it indicated that our failure to meet our own needs had a lot to do with not taking ourselves seriously enough. Having lost touch with our needs we became confused, and decision making extremely problematic. Women, I believe, are more prone to this than men. We place our needs on the back burner while helping others focus on theirs. However, if I am responsible for meeting my own needs, then others are responsible for theirs. Furthermore, by not working at meeting our own needs we teach our children to not meet theirs.
Putting ourselves back into our Quality World means getting in touch with our needs, and learning how to meet those needs effectively.
During the weekend it was also great to meet some wonderful people, and enjoy the fine hospitality of Sandy and John.

Brian is an amazing friend, coach and human being. After spending 10 days with him in every setting of my life I have been profoundly affected.
On the court he has given new meaning to QUALITY. My training now is more meaningful. In the work place his training has shed light onto how important staff relationships are to the success of my business and in my personal life I have more appreciation for what is the most important thing of all – LOVE.
His training has touched every corner of my life and I am truely grateful for the awakening.

” Brian is a man that always puts a smile on your face. No matter what the situation. Brian has helped show me what it takes for me to be consistant night in and night out. And in my case it is all in the mental part of my game.
Brian has shown me a new outlook on my preparation for games and practice. He made me realize that what is right for me, may be totally different for someone else. As well ,he has helped me figure out what is right for me.
Since I have been working with Brian, I have become more mentally tough and I accept any new challanges brought upon me. ”

Brian is my beach volleyball coach, but I just call him that because it’s easier to say. Truth is however, that volleyball is merely the vehicle for which I can practice life and see the direct effects of all my choices. I am so appreciative of everything that Brian has taught me. I have now completed HPP levels 1, 2, and 3. The choices I now make in life are bringing me closer to everything I want my world to be. Life seems so much simpler now that I understand how and why we (humans) make the choices we do. And with this understanding I seem to have more compassion and less judgement. What I have learned through my time with Brian could not be more practical to everything in my life. From work to sport to everyday life. There’s no fake excitement, no fake hype, no fake motivational speeches. Just me and my nitty gritty truth.Thank you soooo much Brian for all your love.

As a performance coach working with elite athletes and businessmen, I thought I understood a lot about taking control of your life and state of mind.
Brian showed me that there is an entirely new awareness to be discovered and practiced in order to fulfill my potential and help others to do the same. After the first day’s training, I completely rearranged my goals and rituals for the coming year.
I continue to use Brian’s principles to improve every day of my life and those around me.

It is difficult for me to seperate the richness of this course and Brian himself as I think it is his authenticity that gives this experience so much POWER! After a 3-day training, I had a deeper understanding of the fundamental philosophy that we are all trying to create positive relationships with one another. No ifs, ands, or buts about it…that was the clear message that I now repeat to myself whenever I am connecting with someone. My language has changed as well as my awareness of my role and responsibility in each encounter I face. Though it is hard to take a “real” look at myself sometimes, through Brian’s gaze, I always felt love and acceptance and joy…what an amazing gift you have to connect to ALL people on every level! Thanks to Angie and Brian for your honesty and presence, Australia misses you!

I have known Brian for over 4 years now and rely on him as my coach, friend and mentor. I met him on the FIVB tour in 2001 while I was playing for the German National Team and I had the amazing opportunity to work with him as my full-time coach for the last season.rnI feel that all the time I spend with Brian on, or off the court has enriched my life. To me, the most valuable lesson I learned from him is about the interconnection between my personal life and my life as an athlete. I believe now, that growing in both areas, as an athlete in my sport and as a loving and caring person off the court, is the greatest and most important challenge. There still is and always will be a lot of room for work and improvement in both areas for me, but in Germany we say: “The way is the goal”, and the person who showed me this path and helps me walking it, is Brian!
Thank you so much for everything, I will see you in March!

Hi Brian!
Thankyou so so so so so so much for the amazing gift you have given me. You are such an incredible person, teacher, friend and coach. Your willingness to share your knowledge and to help people learn how to be happy and successful is inspiring to me. The skills you have taught me will not only be invaluable in my journey to beach volleyball gold in Beijing but will help me in all aspects of my life long after that goal is achieved. I can’t wait to learn more from you at every opportunity.
Thank you for practicing what you preach, in doing so you demonstrate a level of integrity that I strive for every day. A huge thank you to Angie also, the experience wouldnt have been the same without you girl!

Brian,
Thank you so much for continuing to support my growth, not only through internal psychology, but through life.
You are more than just a coach, mentor, or even friend. Your love and support has helped me through some difficult times — I cannot thank you enough!
The internal psychology training has taught me how to improve my personal and professional relationships by understanding myself and others.
I know that this journey is more than the seven levels of internal psychology, so I cannot thank you enough for joining me while I take the walk.

Brian’s ability to explain the process of making choices and then ask probing questions until you have found the solution yourself is excellent. He challenges usual ways of thinking that force you to seriously reflect on the choices you make and when you follow his advice you find a more satisfying way to live your life. My work with him has caused many changes in the way I deal with people and definitely changed the way I coach my athletes.

Brian has been a great friend for many years. I have met few people as dedicated to helping people reach their potential. His view of Internal Psychology has not remained static over the years. The last workshop I attended was a testament to this capacity for Brian as he keeps learning and thereby challenging people in his workshops to self-evaluate. This is always done in an environment where I can feel relaxed, have fun, yet also examine the content of my consciousness that prevents me from truly connecting with others. Thanks Brian!

Brian,
As always, I have walked away from our Level 5 weekend with more insight into behaviour. And I have come to realize that internal pscyhology is more than just a process, but a journey — one that I am enjoying. I find it difficult to sometimes take accountability for the behaviour and situations I choose, but that’s something I’m working on. I’m also thinking more about the “blindspots” in my life and trying to be more effective in my relationships by removing my judgement of others.
What was quality for me the weekend I took Level 5 was the environment and the course content. First, the environment was relaxed and warm (and I’m not just talking about warmth from the fireplaces). But I was also grateful for the opportunity to learn and be with people who were supportive of my learning needs; took the time to explain things to me; and open with their personal experiences. Secondly, I’m not sure how or what triggered this, but it finally resonated with me that there’s more to internal psychology than just the process.
I also want to thank Bonnie for the most amazing chocolate cake I have had in years… it was and IS soooo in my quality world — so chocolately, so moist, and soooo much frosting. YUM YUM! It was a great way to celebrate my birthday… cake, internal psychology and great people. :)
I know Human Potential Plus will catch on like wildfire… it’s only a matter of time. And I cannot thank you enough for your love, support, and having me along for the ride! You and internal psychology have really enriched my life.
Eddie
Brain has been in my “Stduent Success Classroom” numerous times now and although he has been asked to wear many different “hats” I have been amazed at how Brian connects with my students and although some have tremendous difficulties with relationships Brian seems to be able to get through somehow and help.
Brian treats everyone with that same great blend of respect, consideration and humour which makes even my most challenging students ask “Hey when is that guy coming back”?????
Thanks Brian
I attended a level 1 workshop with my girlfriend; I had no expectations about what I was learning or what I would take from the weekend. At the end of the weekend I learned a lot about my girlfriend and even more about myself. The way in which Brian facilitated the workshop helped me create clear picture of my needs and what I do to meet those needs. If you enjoy outside the box think than this workshop is a must!
We stayed at Brian’s place (The Magnolia Manor) and from the moment Brian open the door to the time we left I was blown away by how welcoming and open Brian was with me. I instantly felt at home at the Magnolia Manor, this allowed me to express myself freely to my girlfriend and to Brian. Brian presented the information in such a way that encouraged conversation between my girlfriend and me and allow though it was difficult at times he was very good at facilitation the discussion and relating it back to the material. If I could share with you one thing about my experience it would be Brian’s patients, insight and no B.S ability to help you navigate through your thoughts, behaviours and attitudes about any particular issue you may be dealing with.
Thanks Brian

Hello Brian this is Ben. I am just writing to tell you what has happened in the pat few months. First off I got an e-mail from the Grey Bruce Highlanders before the try outs for Lakers started offering me a chance to try out if the Lakers didn’t fit me into their plans, I thought that it was definitely an option. When the Lakers started try outs I knew that I had a good chance to make it but didn’t know if they were going to sign the goalie from last year. After the second practice I knew it was just me and him. The third try out was upon us and the other goalie wasn’t there, I just thought he was sick but after the fourth tryout I knew something was fishy. It turns out that they had said he had 15 days to decide if he wanted to play, but he wanted his release to go to Elgin-Middlesex. The Lakers were reluctant to give it to him. So they offered me a card but they had some strings attached.
They said the team had no confidence in me, I would only play a quarter of the games and if the other goalie decided to come back I was out of the picture. So I called up the Highlanders and asked if they still had a spot and they were eager to have me come out. After the first tryout they said I was in and I signed with them. Now it looks like I made the right decision by the looks of it because just looking at my team compared to the Lakers, we are harder working and may have the same amount of talent. I would just like to thank you for all of the help in my life. I respected myself and picked a team that would benefit myself. A huge thanks to you.
And I was wondering if you had any spots open in your camp this summer?
Another huge thanks to you!!!!
Ben
Hi Brian,
Thanks very much for everything that you did on Saturday. I think that the majority of the team has bought into the methods you were discussing. We played in Listowel on Sunday afternoon and we won! I was able to stand near our bench and I noticed a considerable difference in the attitude of many of our players. I hope we can carry this on. And if we run into some difficult times again, I know that we will be much better prepared to handle it thanks to you.
Thanks again,
