Some Words on Character and Talent
In terms of being able to live with your self, the majority can never rule.
………
People in their right mind are NEVER righteous or proud about their talents. They find new ways to commit themselves to excellence.
……….
A young man came to question me about the use of drugs. He couldn’t believe how I disrespected him. He was a blamer and life had given him a bum deal. He was caught in the same prison and illusion that most people live into. He was a victim, creating his own pain choosing his own poison, cultivating the feeling he is in control and not an addict. He showed up stoned and wanted to debate how misled I am. I asked him, Who is the one stoned? Then I asked him, Did I come looking for him? He did what all addicts do when confronted with the irrationality of their behavior – he ran out. That is what addicts do – they run away from life. They destroy all relationships by using them as a means to justify there suffering. They give up their character to the drug and sadly can’t see it. All they have to do is realize they were born with a perfect character, which got eroded by the problems of the subjective mind or ego. If you give your authority to the professional they will put you on medication, and tell you that you have a mental illness. Here they rob your ability to be creative and therefore stunt your character.
If you self-medicate you will never resolve a thing to build your character. In both places you become mediocre, dead inside. You will make pharmaceutical companies and pushers rich.
