He was very difficult to listen too. In his mind he had pictures of what motivates me and many others. He kept telling me over and over again that I knew nothing and all this work was just a clear way to get money from people who were lost and needy. He kept speaking:

I have been to your website and it is disgusting. You can barely write and you should be more responsible for what you put on it. If anyone read anything from this site of yours it would be evident that they are as lost as you. You put these situations down that make no sense whatsoever. I believe sir that it all comes down to love, and your site is not about love. In my life I think that people are the way they are and we can’t do anything about that. We are tied to the pursuit of love and you fill me with anger.

The man was not ready to talk with me so I listened very carefully to everything he said. He was a man of the world, making his mark in it, wrapping meaning of the past to justify his present state. He went on for a long time and was using external control psychology, telling me why I do what I do and giving a full evaluation of my life according to him.

At this point one could clearly see the skill he had at keeping others at a distance. One could feel the loneliness in him and as he continued to call me names I watched the movement of self. Silence was the only response. He soon tired of his own dullness and fell back into the comfort of his own ideas and perceptions. Deep inside one could feel the darkness growing, watching it being fed by thought. Silence once again broke out. In that silence there was neither love nor hate, just the appreciation to see what was happening. Meditation truly is freedom from all the external control and its need for power.
